Has the bottom dropped out yet? 68,000 job cuts announced on one day!! Are you kidding me! With each passing day I get more and more uneasy and I'm sure you're feeling the same way? It's hard to focus and work when you're looking over your shoulder waiting for that tap asking you to see the boss in 10 minutes.
For those of us still employed, all you can do is try your best, prove your worth when the opportunities present themselves and begin to reconnect with your network at night. I know it's sounds pessimistic, but you never know and its best to stay prepared. If nothing happens then nothing is lost. If the other shoe drops then at least you're a few steps ahead.
For those of you currently unemployed, my thoughts are with you - it's a tough time to be searching. Just know that your professional network is your best tool for future success. Stay connected by attending local association chapter meetings and setting appointments over coffee, etc. As my Mother always told me, "Things happen for a reason." I never believe that when a negative thing impacts me (like being laid off), but I always return to that notion after time has passed and I'm actually in a better place. No matter how long it takes, have faith that in the long run - "Things happen for a reason" and you'll be in a better place.
Regardless of what side of the fence you sit, try to stay positive and make the most of every situation. I'll try to do the same.
All the best,
Adam R. Kahn
