Labor Day Is Here!

Labor Day marks the end of summer and back to school. Time for those last day trips to the beach. Time to lock up the summer cabins and houses. Time for back to school shopping (on a bit tighter budget this year!).

I always think of Labor Day like a changing of the guard. It’s my last opportunity to breath in slowly, especially during a long weekend, before the chaos and increased speed of daily life comes flying at you from all directions. I’m not saying summer is any less demanding, just that the fall typically has more “to dos” on the combined personal and professional priority lists.

So, I write my September blog with a bit of advice - savior the warm weather (fingers crossed), slower pace of life this weekend and get some much needed R&R! I know I will - this way, I’ll be a bit more prepared to deal with the chaos headed my way: back to school, 2009 budget planning, meet the teacher open houses, fall travel (almost constant), fall yard clean up, place after place after place for my crushing schedule of BusinessAnalystWorld events!

See you in the fall!

All the best,

Adam R. Kahn

No so much of a comment but a question, my boss is already looking at the next fiscal year and wants at least a ballpark guess of how many hours to allot for study/taking the CBAP exam. Any ideas?
Thanks,
David Wilhelms

WOW! I'm embarrassed that I haven't responded. My sincere apologies. I'm sure you've already got an answer, but I need to reply. It really depends on your level of experience and exposure to the BABOK. The most cost effective opportunity to study for the CBAP is thru IIBA Chapter Study groups. I'd check with your local Chapter. Most already have study groups established, but if not- I'm sure they'd be more than happy to create one. An additional option are paid test prep courses offered by a number of the training vendors out there. They don't guarantee success however.
