Over the past three weeks I've experienced quite a roller coaster of emotions. Hmmmm- where to start? Lets see. I've attended two funerals, had oral surgery, was in Philadelphia managing our regional BA World conference and have been dealing with a constant onslaught of media reports regarding the H1N1 Virus (Swine Flu).
My point: Is life is too short to sweat the small stuff? I guess death, surgery and a potential pandemic (although don't get me started with the media on this) will force anyone to re-evaluate their perspectives.
We are all under a great deal of stress these days, whether it be the economy and our ability to pay the bills, unemployment, too much responsibility at work (because your doing the job of three people) or just trying to figure out how H1NI virus will affect your community. My advice- take 10 seconds everyday to breathe in and out slowly to calm you down when you feel like the light at the end of the tunnel is constantly getting smaller. Life is just too short. If you take stock of positive things in your life, whether family, friends, Spring flowers blooming, or anything else that makes you happy, and focus a portion of each day enjoying those things, your daytime responsibilities will become easier and you'll be happier person for it. Making your colleagues, family and friends happier too!
I know it's not BA specific, but as you may have figured out, I tend to write about what's on my mind and how it may relate to all of you out there involved in the global BA community. I appreciate each and every one of our subscribers and want to thank you for reading and being involved in our community. For those of you in the greater Toronto, Canada area, I look forward to seeing you at ProjectWorld & BusinessAnalystWorld: Toronto event next week.
All the best,
